Here you'll find our most common questions regarding our Self-Tanners! Can't find the answer you're looking for? Please contact us at info@idawargbeauty.se 🤎
For how long does an opened Self-tanning bottle last?
From the date that the product gets filled, it lasts for 3 years if it's unopened. If it's opened, at least 6 months.

I don't get any result when I use Self-tanners, why?

All Self-Tanning products from IDA WARG Beauty contain DHA extracted from natural sugar, which sets on dead skin cells. That's why it's important not to use acids or other exfoliating products 24 hours before use, or together with the any self-tanning product. When exfoliating, you remove dead skin cells where the DHA is suppose to settle on.The product won't have anything to attach to, and therefore gives no result.

Also, keep in mind that the guide color you get when applying Instant products is just that, a guide color. It should be rinsed off when the product has finished developing on the skin, and is primarily there to show you where you have applied it. So, it can easily feel like everything is washing off when the result is weaker, but that is rarely the case.

The Self-Tanning Face Lotion gets grainy when I apply it, why?
The Self-Tanning Face Lotion could get grainy if you apply it on your face after you have put on your regular face cream. Therefore, the products should be applied on clean and dry skin to make an even, moisturised and long-lasting result. If you put on the self-tanner on your face cream, the tan does not attach as well on the skin and is going to get washed off faster. To get the best result, apply the product on dry skin.

How many drops should I use of the Tanning Drops?
That's up to you, depending on the desired result! However, we usually recommend between 2-10 drops. Check out the difference between 4 and 8 drops HERE!

Which self-tanner gives the most color?
This question is highly individual. Products stick differently to different skin types, resulting in varying tans for different people. However, generally, our original products tend to develop the deepest tan as they do not contain caramel like the instant products do, and caramel can slightly weaken the effect of self-tanners.

My Self-Tanning Mousse is white, why?
We have both coloured and uncoloured self-tanners. The uncoloured ones comes out as a white formula and when you apply it, it´s uncoloured on the skin but starts to develop to a sunkissed tan after 3 hours and keeps developing for 12 more hours. The coloured products (Tinted and Cocoa) gives you an instant colour since the product has a coloured formula. But just like the uncoloured ones, the tan continue to develop for 12 hours.

Can I sunbathe while using Self-tanners?
Yes, the fragrance-free Self-tanners are OK to sunbathe with. Please be careful when sunbathing with the perfumed Self-tanners. We always recommend to use an additional SPF product to be safe in the sun!

Can I use Self-Tanning Water Mist on makeup?
Of course! The Self-tanning effect gets best if you use it on clean and dry skin, but since it contains Hyaluronic Acid, it´s a perfect touch-up to use on makeup to get a hydrated, glowy and sunkissed result!

What tools do you use to apply the different products?
Mousses - With an application glove or brush
Lotions and Tanning Drops - With hands (but don't forget to wash them afterward!)
Sprays - With an application glove
Mists - Spray only, do not rub in.

How long should you wait before rinsing off the self-tanner?
The self-tanner reaches its full result after 12 hours on the skin, so we always recommend at least 12 hours. A night's sleep and you're ready to go!

Can you use body self-tanner on your face?
You definitely can, but they are not specifically formulated for the sensitive skin on your face like our facial self-tanning products are. If you want to use body self-tanner on your face, use at least the fragrance-free ones to avoid irritating the skin on your face since instant products contain quite a bit of fragrance.

How do I best prepare my skin before applying self-tanner? And how do I make the tan last?
To prep your skin best before applying self-tanner and to make the tan last longer, follow these steps:

  1. Exfoliate your skin 24 hours before application.
  2. Moisturize dry areas such as ankles, knees, elbows before application and let it absorb.
  3. Apply a generous amount of product all over your body, allowing it to dry before putting on tight clothing.
  4. Leave the product on overnight (sleep in dark-colored pajamas or bedsheets).
  5. Rinse off the product in the morning.
  6. Moisturize your body, both immediately after showering and daily in the days following.
